Hi! New to plants and planta. I have a collection of plants in my sunroom but it gets very cold, as low as in the 40s in that room since it’s not heated like the rest of the house. I imagine this is harmful to my plants. What do I do? Space heater?

Sunroom plant owner here! Ours is not heated either, so all of the plants are inside for the winter (gets very cold here in Pittsburgh). I have them divided up by light/humidity needs throughout the house. The amount of light isn’t perfectly ideal… the sunroom are the only south-facing windows… but many of them are still growing and thriving! And it’s nice having plants in the main living areas, too!

Love your sunroom setup! I bet it looks amazing, all filled out with plants in the warmer months!

SAME!! I have to move my plants around for the winter too. Space heaters are a double edged sword: they typically dry out the air and can be way too intense for houseplants, causing them to drop leaves like crazy. I’m spotting a few humidity lovers in your photo so I’d suggest a bathroom with good sunlight for the winter or if no natural sunlight, you can put a grow lamp on an automatic timer.

Space heater will dry the air to a crisp and then your plants next. Either move them inside temporarily or redesign the sunroom with plants that are more hardy to cold.
