   Alocasias like consistent soil moisture; I've had good luck using a self-watering pot. They can be a bit dramatic about moves to new locations, so don't be surprised if it drops a leaf in protest before settling in. They like slightly more light than average tropicals, but they're able to grow taller or shorter leaf stems and adjust to what you give them; as long as you're getting growth, you're good. They appreciate fertilizer. If everything seems fine but you get weird leaf colors, check for chemicals in your water; alocasias can be sensitive to that. As with any tropical, protect them from extreme temperatures; alocasias can do a die back dormancy if they get a little bit too cold, but it's best to avoid that
