Please help! My baby’s still browning 😭 I think I’ve been doing everything right: put it in a part sun/part shade area, added an outer pot and rocks for drainage. Two days ago, I watered until water came out some of the holes. I haven’t checked her roots yet. When I went to drain out the water in the outer pot, nothing came out. Is that something to be concerned about? Dr. Planta says it’s due to a water imbalance and gives me vague advice on how to fix it. I would appreciate any help 🙏

Check for pests because I am extremely sure it’s probably a pest problem. If not, it could be sunburn damage but I doubt it’s water imbalance. It could be, but my number one suggestion is probably that it’s pests. It could be a number of different pests. I don’t know which kind. There are many different problems that could be. My second idea is probably root rot. You should check for that and get rid of any leaves that are browning.

Because most likely, the leaves that are browning will just die

Check for pests. It’s not a pest issue if you cannot find evidence of pests. Then, rule that out. It doesn’t look like sun damage. This variety of plant has natural yellow spots all over, hence, the name aureo maculatum meaning gold blotched. My guess is older leaves dying off or too much water/moisture leading to root rot. I recommend removing the pot and checking for pests, root rot or fungus, another sign of excess water in the soil. I also recommend changing the set up. I’m guessing you are watering the plant while it’s in the orange pot. So, the rocks and extra large outer pot is used. I suggest removing that outer pot and the rocks. The plant is small enough to take to a sink or tray to water. Let it thoroughly drain. Then, place on a drain saucer or in a ceramic outer pot just big enough to fit it. This will allow better air circulation across the soil to help remove excess water from the soil through evaporation. It also removes the standing water in the rocks. 🍀🪴
