Hey all, im trying to make my photos fuller by taking cuttings, rooting them in water and adding them to the same pot, but everytime I move them back into the soil they don’t do very well. Anybody know any tips to help them grow when added back to soil?

Do you know how long transplant shock should last? One cutting has been in the pot for a little over a month and is still drooping!

Did the plant have a good root system? I usually keep the soil moist for about 2 to 3 weeks after potting in soil

I recommend planting it in a separate pot and then adding it later, once it’s established

Water roots are more delicate and need to be acclimated to the soil. I’ve had success with transferring to a mix of mostly perlite and a bit of soil and then drenching the pot while settling the cuttings in, so it’s soupy, and then letting it drain out. I bottom water after that. Don’t transfer to soil until the roots have roots. Your pothos looks great, I’d give it time to grow more before trying to prop from it. She’ll fill out in just a bit of time 🪴

The leaf can die off as a sacrificial leaf if there is only one leaf while propagating. It’s normal. The vine will put out new leaves. My arrowhead cuttings had a leaf at each node that died while growing roots. They grew new leaves about two weeks later. The collage shows the mother plant and the progress of the cuttings.

I do it a little differently. It’s not always possible to, but I take a trailing stem and turn it back into the pot. Secure it with some anchors, or whatever they are called, and allow it to root. Have a node touching the soil. It roots within a few weeks.

Is there anything else to this method? I’ve tried a few times and never get roots from it. Not sure why my pothos don’t like it.

I always make sure a node is touching the soil. This is my neon and Cebu. They are full because I would anchor stems into the soil. Neither were made more dense with cuttings. They are so thick that it is a little difficult to water them.
