I have a question about my ficus elastics tineke. It seems super healthy and producing new leaves like crazy, but I notice that this summers leaves have less green on them and a wider creamy yellow edge. I cant remember if they develop more green over time or is this “loss of variegation” and it needs more light? It’s currently in front of an east facing patio door. Anyways, it’s just interesting and I’m curious what your thoughts are? Photos are of this summer vs last summers growth.

I don’t have an answer to your question but the plant is BEAUTIFUL!

When you loose verification it reverts to green and that’s usually when it’s not getting enough light. If you rotate the pot it helps keep it from leaning towards the light.

It gets rotated. I think the lean is because it was at some point planted like that (there might be 2 plants in there?) and I never corrected it when I repotted it. I think I might have to pull it out the pot and investigate further as now it’s trying to straighten itself toward the top of that branch!

If they have more cream then that means they’re getting lots of light. If you want more green try bringing it back from the window a bit or a different location

I have what I call my “magic window” and all my plants thrive in it. It’s East facing.
