Every time I follow your advice for this type of plants they end up dead. I had yellow leaves you advised me to water it I did. And now my plant is water soaked and dead. This is the third plant like this that died following your recommendation. I am very upset.
If you’re talking about the app then I recommend stop listening to it and go with your gut. As far as what it knows with weather conditions in your area and the lighting it won’t know how warm your house is or humid it is. Pretty much any issue with a plant the app will tell you it could be a water issue 😂

Just because Planta tells you it's time to water, doesn't mean it's time to water; it's just an app with an algorithm. It doesn't know the exact amount of light, humidity, temp, etc your plant gets. That's why there's an option to snooze the task if your soil is too wet or complete the task early if your soil is dry. Were you waiting for the soil to dry out completely between watering? If not, it was overwatered. It also could've been lighting issues, old age making the plant leaves yellow, underwatering, wrong kind of soil retaining too much moisture, so many different things really. It's hard to tell without details. Next time, don't rely on an AI looking at a picture to diagnose your plant. Come to the community section and get advice from real people who have experience keeping the kind of plant you're struggling with.
8 likes To be honest with you, I wouldn't throw that plant out either. There's still a lot of green on it- I'd pull off the clearly mushy outter leaves and see if the smaller inner leaves are salvageable.

1 like I've brought back succulents from completely rotted roots before, I even have one that was dip painted and rootless; takes foreverrrrrrr but very rewarding if you do it!

2 likes SAME!! 🤣 I just tossed a plant that my husband has been asking me "are you sure it's not dead yet?" the last 3 weeks. I'm like "wait a couple more days, it might bounce back" lol

0 likes Planta also is very aggressive about me watering my plants too. I snooze the reminder if it looks to soon to me. Supposedly the Planta algorithm figures out what your plant needs when you do that, it adjusts the suggestions supposedly
4 likesPlanta recommendations tend towards overwatering. Also in my experience with succulents, you really need to make sure to use the correct soil mix, and with hawthorias specifically, you need to avoid getting water between the leaves because it can get stuck there and rot. Same goes for aloes, echevarias, and orchids

1 likePut a tampon in it to immediately soak up the water. Then I would poke some air holes in the soil and elevate it to try and dry it out. If there is still green, there is still hope. Don’t give up 😊

I let my succulents and cacti dry out completely between waterings and water thoroughly when I do water, and make sure there is DRAINAGE HOLES! Also once a month I fertilize them with grow queens liquid fertilizer 😁 hopefully this helps love 🫶🏼
