I originally posted in another group and I have a question yet unanswered that I need to deal with rather soon. Had a plant failing and stem break off at soil level. Thought to be maybe root rot or something. Took plant out and found webbing wrapped around it, restricting root growth. After removing most all of it-do I simply plant in soil now? Original post (before finding this) suggested trying to root in water, but the situation has change completely since finding the webbing.

You are often able to re-root for additional roots in water if needing a boost. You could also just repot now that you’ve freed her up for growth! I’ve been there; the netting is weird & should have a notice)! You may consider adding a bit of growth hormone if you have any. Since it’s an aglaonema, do NOT separate the roots! For some reason they wanna stick together. Trust me. Otherwise be sure to follow up with the before & after! 😜 You’ve got this plant parent! 🪴 💕

Thank you so much for your reply! I hope it comes back-she was really in my gdayghter’s room and she was convinced she killed it. I showed her today that share wasn’t the cause-the netting was, so she’s on board for more plants💚. Thanks again🌱 🪴

I haven’t had one of these so I don’t have experience but 100% encourage her! Get her a type of Pothos! Great starter plants and they are beautiful and super adaptable, depending on how much like she has in her room

She was really happy to have had this one until she thought she killed it. After I showed her the webbing (I don’t know the appropriate term for it, so I’ll stick with webbing) situation and explaining the lack of root growth she was pleased to hear it would have happened with anyone. She’s onboard for more! I have a Pothos rooting in water that I could use for her once it’s rooted. Thanks for that idea and your encouragement for her!
