Explain to me like I’m 5. The first picture is when I first bought. The second picture is what it looks like now. I just have two shoots that will grow and then die and the cycle repeats. No volume and then shoots always before the new ones really start.

In my experience these love partial sun and shade. Maybe aim to let it get morning sun then keep it in shade. It looks like it lost some pink in the second picture so I think it may be underlit. Also try not to overwater or underwater. It’s a sensitive plant!

The pot also looks too big for it, these prefer shallow smaller pots. Maybe it’s something worth looking into

The long stalks, small leaves, and less bright colors indicates it needs a lot more light. Put a grow light within 1 foot of the leaves and run it at least 12 hours a day. Fertilize it regularly.

I agree w/Miche. It also looks leggy as if it is searching for the light. Misting is good too! 😇

Are the rapid recycling of stalks indicative of not enough resources to produce more stalks?

Could be, the resource being light!

It just needs sun! Some of these caladiums can take full sun. Do you happen to know the species or the name of the plant, mine are all outside in the full east sun till noon or so. Your just needs light! Or put it outside to get east sun. Then when she’s full and healthy, bring her in with her own grow light!

I echo what others have mentioned, looks like some partial sun would help, and I keep mine moist (helps for me 🤷‍♀️). I also agree to repot to check the roots and get it in a better pot for growth! Mine are huge for some reason and I’ve had them about a month!!
