Any tips on my VFT? There are two plants. I think one is dead. It caught a few flies, but the mouths didn’t shut. It also looks like I have two new ones coming in. It stayed outside on the front porch most of the summer. I’m worried she got too hot.
Maybe set her in water?

Needs better lighting. The traps are pale red, when they’re bright red, they’re happy.
2개 좋아요Looks like yours is a little dry. Those shallow saucers dont hold for long. Mine lives outside elevated in a two gallon white bucket of water. This protects the roots, water evaporates a lot slower, and she gets all the sun she wants. Leaf scorch is due to the plant not having enough water to pull into their leaves. Idk if some are dead or not, but if there is still green, it can still feed the rest of the plant
좋아요 1개Also, did you physically see the fly land and not shut? What you may be seeing is the carcass of the fly
좋아요 1개No I didn’t see it physically land. There were a few. I took them all out.
좋아요 1개If they were dead the traps got them. They liquefy the insides for fertilizer and leave the carcass. I think they’re fine. I’m a big supporter of natural elements. You might leave it outside sometime on a rainy day for some fresh air. I think you’re doing great. Keep it up!
