Cinnamon is what I like to use on top of soil for fungal gnats. Also swabs of lavender oil next to plants that have gnats.

2 J'aimeDon’t waist your money on moisture meters! Wooden skewers are the way to go.
12 J'aimeI use wooden skewers on plants that like to be dry before they get watered, but moisture loving plants??? That’s what I use my moisture meter for. How about you? TIA!
0 J'aimeEven for my moisture loving plants. The skewer tells me the level of moisture based on where the dirt sticks to it. So I’m not looking for the stick to by dry with those, I’m just looking for the level of moisture I want in that specific plant and water accordingly.
2 J'aimeChop and prop for fuller plants!
8 J'aimeIf in doubt don’t water.
15 J'aimeUse a light meter to help figure out whether your plants are getting enough light, especially with grow lights.
4 J'aimePick up some Brawndo from the store. It’s got what plants crave.
5 J'aimeRotate plants a quarter turn every week for even growth!
7 J'aimeI put chunky perlite in the bottom of my cache pots unless the nursery pot is big enough to rest on the rim. It provides air flow to the bottom of the pot, and if the roots grow out of the drainage holes before I notice, they're less likely to rot. Someone else just found canning presses that could serve this same purpose, which is also a great idea. I've also seen corks and styrofoam packing peanuts used.
5 J'aimePut your plants in a pot that’s only 1” to 2” bigger than the root ball. Don’t put it in a pot that’s too big thinking it’ll give it more room to grow bigger. What it will do is cause root rot.
