anyone ever get scared their cats are going to eat their plants and get poisoned? i have so many and he doesn’t usually eat them but im scared one day he might

    Yes! It’s a very real fear too. I can tell you two plants that may give ya trouble fs: Spider Plants & Aloes. Spider plants they wanna chew off the tips of all the leaves & aloes for some crazy reason they always wanna sit right on. Avoid or hang is my suggestion! Otherwise many other plants my cats completely ignore.

    Spider plants are safe for cats but they will destroy them so place high enough away from them.

    Spider plants are safe but I read somewhere they can be hallucinogenic for some cats, in the way that some cats like cat nip. I don’t think that’s the case for my two but one of them nibbles the leaves whilst looking at me with the “where’s my food” look!

    One of my two cats likes to nibble on all plants. I only have a couple of “toxic” plants which are out of reach. But I also adhere to the above advice re hanging my spider plant and in general I keep most of the rest out of reach to prevent chewed leaves 🐈‍⬛💚✅

    you can spray with citrus oils to keep them away, they don't like the smell. just be careful to not spray them directly on the leaves, oils can clog the pores in the leaves and cause issues

    Bitter apple spray! My cat chews metal for some reason she’s a little weirdo and we got it for that and it worked magic, then she went to my monsteras and I sprayed those too and now she has stopped

    Ugh I lived that nightmare. My partner once brought home Dumb Cane/Dieffenbachia and 2 unknown big leafy plants from someone cutting down on their collection. He’s had dumb cane before so I was aware it was an irritant and made him swear that if our cat showed interest it would be gone. There were two other big leafy plants with no flowers that to this day idk what they were. He didn’t think to ask the person giving them away. All I know is within 3 days I had a $3.5k vet bill and my baby getting monitored at the vet as she recovered from acute pancreatitis. Dumb Cane wouldn’t cause those symptoms that so it was allowed to stay. The other two were rehomed without further discussion or investigation before baby came home. I just don’t allow any toxic plants, no matter how pretty or how mild.
