My plant went from this to this 😄. I don’t know why. I followed the the recommended care instructions from planta but nothing seems to be working. Any thoughts, recommendations, or suggestions??

Eeekks it’s probably due to humidity dropping from the heating being on with winter and all

I don’t know anything about this plant but I can tell you that the care scheduling for planta isn’t always super accurate especially with watering. I mainly use the water schedule as a reminder but I always check my plants before I water and I keep an eye on anybody who looks like they are about to be thirsty or are droopy. For the most part I’ve gotten mine pretty accurate but it does change with the growth of plants. Hopefully someone can help you!

I had realized that with my plants & gave them extra water sometimes. That’s good to know that it’s okay to go off the schedule they give you as needed. Thank you

I always test soil moisture with a moisture meter. Depending on how wet the soil is, I'll "snooze" for 2 or 5 days thru Planta. You can also manually set a watering schedule in settings. So if you're noticing you're snoozing for 2 days every time planta suggests watering, then manually add 2 days to planta's suggested time between waterings and see if that better aligns with your plant's needs :)

They have a feature that asks if your dirt is dry or wet when you snooze or complete a task early and if you answer that with yes it’s dry or gets it wet it automatically adjusts the schedule. It’s also important to keep plant and pot sizes up today and also window distance and geology times because it all affects the schedule also.

I’ve filled all that out in detail. This happened with in the second day of me bringing the plant home. My dirt is moist. I use a grow light because I live in upstate NY & I’m not getting as much sun

Agree that it probably hates the heating. Looks like selaginella wants cool and humid. Suggestions: 1) can you move it to the kitchen or bathroom, if there’s a window there? 2) if not, try a pebble tray. 3) a small terrarium would also be a gorgeous option!! 4) if it’s anywhere near a heating vent, get it away from there.

Wow. I think I want one but it needs high humidity to survive. I just looked it up. And enjoys shade.

Needs a cloche or terrarium to keep humidity up and stable.

This is a plant that likes high humidity. Mist it several times a day, if you don't have a terrarium. You can literally pop it in a plastic bag to temporarily get it's humidity up.

Frosty ferns do not like direct sunlight and will die if they are in front of any fans/ heaters. They also MUST be kept in a tray full of water at all times like a swamp plant.

Mine was also a lot happier when it got mineral free filtered water, kind of like a carnivorous plant.
