Hey all! So my mom bought me this arrangement as a move in gift. All of the plants are listed on the tag. Anyone know the best way to take care of this guy? Should I split them up and put them all in there individual pots or leave them in here. Additionally, I’ve never had a baby tomato plants so any advice on how to take care of it, how to plant it and what type of pot it is best in. Love for the advice! Thanks

Not sure about the rest but I’d split the tomatoes off ! I have mine in a planter box and she’s gotten very bushy !

Honestly I don’t ! I’ve never even seen an arrangement like this, it’s awesome tho I love it. Maybe just follow the stem of the tomato plant and work most of the roots out that you can that are attached, hopefully someone who’s seen something like this can comment more advice because I’d like to know too now 😅

Personally, I would split them up so they have an opportunity to thrive. All of these can grow into nice big plants when given the care and space. Carefully pull the bundle out of the pot as you would when repotting anything else and then work through the roots, trying to keep as much of what belongs to each plant in tact. Sometimes this is easier after giving the roots a rinse with the hose but it just depends on how the roots look, how fragile they are and how many there are.

In general, as far as transplanting indeterminate varieties of tomatoes, you might lose all the fruit. Or you might not. When transplanting tomato it’s helpful to cut off their fruit and flower so the plant can work on putting their energy into establishing roots and growing bigger. However, Siam tomatoes are a determinate variety. So for these I wouldn’t actually recommend cutting the fruit off. I’d wait to separate and repot until you harvest them. The plant will not produce again after this harvest anyway.

Okay! So, wait till the tomato is done blooming and harvested, essentially and then I can repot the other plants? The tomato plant will not regrow any more tomatoes once I harvest it because it is a determinate variety?

Yep! Typically determinate varieties will ripen all at once so when you’ve harvested everything you should be good to go
