I am wanting to experiment with LECA and PONS in place of soil for some of my plants. Asking for your experiences.. plants that did well in which medium and which did not. My experience so far is with my polka dot begonia.. I killed 3 of them and the last, big poppa, I put in LECA as a Hail Mary and he. Is lovin’ it.. so please share your thoughts

I currently use PON for my rattlesnake Calathea and it loves it. This spring I plan on moving my peace lily and wandering dude.

I have prayer plants and calatheas in leca that seem to absolutely love it, i could never keep them alive in soil, and i put my heartleaf philodendron in leca and it isnt liking it as much, but i think it might be shock

LECA has been really fun to learn about. All of the plants I’ve transitioned have done really well. Some of them took a little bit longer to adapt to than others. I can’t speak to begonias specifically, as begonias are not plants that I go anywhere within a 10 foot radius of. 🤪 I have alocasias, money trees, philodendrons, Hoyas, rhaphidophora tetraspermas, pileas, zz plants, monsteras (including my Thai con) and Peperomias all living in LECA successfully at the moment, with plans to move some more plants once I get more clay balls 😎

I’ve moved all of my plants to LECA now, and most did ok with the transfer. Some won’t miss a beat being transferred (like my Zz and most of my snakes) but some I put in water first few a few weeks to make the transfer easier.
