Hey, this is my white bird of paradise, i got him a few months back and he’s thriving, got a new leaf coming aswell, I’ve never had a bop not too sure what im doing but my question is making it look less messy around the bottom, all the small leaves, do I just chop them? everyone else’s i see seem to look so neat and tidy, im going to repot him soon aswell as the roots are coming out the bottom, should i sort it out then?

They will naturally die off as the plant grows. It will most likely grow a lot this summer. When they are this size, they can grow out of a pot rather quickly. BOPs do like to be a little snug so I usually repot when I notice I have to water more often. I would leave the leaves alone until they naturally start to die off. Be prepared, this plant will double in size fairly quickly.

Also, bops do not prop via leaves. You have to divide the plant when it’s larger or wait for pups.

Hi. No experience with BOPs but wanted to say I am jealous of your window view :).

I don’t know how impressive since I got all of those plants in the last 2 months. I think I have a problem 🤣 😳

don’t remove them. all plants look different and they’ll likely go as bigger leaves grow in. good luck!

don’t remove them, they provide valuable resources and allow the plant to absorb more sunlight. there is no point in maiming a healthy plant because “someone else’s looks different”.

Mine BOP is similar with the smaller leaves at the bottom. I removed a few of the stems with smaller leaves to give it a cleaner look but I still left most of them.

This is gorgeous! I have one that was thriving like this when I got it and I didn’t even try. 5 years later and I’m having to go through Intensive care to get it back 😅
