Was given this baby (its name is firefly, it’s a farfugium japonicum - leopard plant) a few days ago!! I’m already so attached to it lol I’ll probably buy this subscription to help me care for it 😭😭!! the soil was dry and light brown this morning and I could see some browning on the tips- so I cut them off. I watered them until some water came out from the bottom. Touched the soil and it’s damp on top but on the bottom, it’s so wet it leaves water droplets on my finger. Any more tips on what I could do? I misted the leaves a while ago but one leaf developed brown spots in the middle of it, is it because of the misting? Any help would be so appreciated 😭😭🩷🩷🩷!!

You will have to look up the care for this specific plant. If the pot has drainage holes in the bottom then you’re ok, it’s not too wet even at the bottom. Some plants don’t want water on their leaves. Try not to worry too much, almost all plants will get brown spots. I wouldn’t cut the brown tips off right away, especially if you just got it. Let it get acclimated to your home. It can stress a plant out moving environments and that’s what could be happening. Cutting the tips could make it worse.

Looks like this plant likes water, don’t let it dry out. I would check it every 3rd day, if the very top of the soil is dry, water it. It needs part sun/part shade. So I would put it in an east facing window. Hope this helps!

How far away should I put it near the window? I searched up this plant on this app but it doesn’t tell me how far I should place it. Right now I have it at 5 ft away from an east facing window.

That’s too far, slowly move it closer each day. Just avoid direct sunlight, meaning the sun rays hitting the plant directly

Oh, and don’t mist this one. It doesn’t need high humidity.
