Ok I have some new pictures of the crazy roots on my pothos that is having trouble loosing leaves. Iām trying to figure out why it keeps getting a yellow leaf before it gets to the big ones š

well it could be a bit pot bound but with that moss pole i donāt think thatās the problem. is the yellow only happening to the leaves that were strapped? could be that ā this plant has a really good hold on the moss so you can remove the straps. you *could be* overwatering the moss - try letting get just a bit drier before watering again the plant looks good overall!
2 LikesI didnāt even think about the Velcro straps! Iām sure theyāre not needed anymore š I just repotted it 40 days ago but maybe the orchid pot might make it too easy for the roots to escape š¤Ø
0 Likesyour pothos is beautiful! iāve been thinking of putting mine on a moss pole! where did you get yours from?
1 LikeI just ordered some like this off Amazon; they seem to have a wide variety of these plastic ones.
1 Likeiāll look, thanks!
0 LikesI think I got the plastic pole frame from Walmart and I got the plant last year. This is my first time trying this! But Iāve been watching Sydney the Plant Guy on YouTube and he makes it look so easy
1 LikeIs there actual soil in the pot or is it all bark?
1 LikeNo soil, just chunks of bark, charcoal and perlite and leca
1 LikeI havenāt seen that before⦠usually the happy pothos I see are in a soil mix. Might be too airy for it?
0 LikesSince itās not getting it from soil, are you fertilizing it with nutrients?
1 Likethis mix is ok when thereās a moss pole involved since that hangs onto water a bit more like like soil ā but youāll want to make sure you water the moss with fertilizer from time to time
1 LikeI just started yesterday with Leafy Lux but before that I used Schultz plant food and thatās what I was thinking caused the yellow leaf problem because it did the same thing to two other pothos vines at the same time. My longest vine is bare now but the other one only lost 1 leaf. I did notice that the bottle was getting crunchy around the top and I shouldāve thrown it away. I liked that it had a dropper and wasnāt messy or stinky
1 LikeOn the last photo it looks like the Velcro strap is smashing the leaf which broke/killed it. Only strap down the actual stem. Also thereās a lack of nutrients when growing in sphagnum so fertilizer is essential.
2 LikesI removed the straps now and I hope it helps but I donāt think it was the main issue because the lower two leaves werenāt under the straps. Now Iām obsessing over the roots wrapping around the outside of the plastic pot because of the side air holes š¤Ø
0 Likesthe roots coming out of the pot are most likely a non-issue ā that moss pole is full of roots
