Hey we got this Yucca about 3 weeks ago, this was it before and the yucca now… what am I doing wrong? Its in Sunlight, humidity seems right and I only watered when completely dry. Help?! The only thing I can think of is poor soil drainage, any recommendations?

I’m not entirely sure what’s wrong with it, but I can try and give you some help. I want to say it’s underwatered, but that’s only because of the leaves looking dry/wilted and they have brown tips. Yuccas really don’t need water in the winter time though, if anything you’d probably water them once a month. I hear bottom watering is a better option for them though. It may also be the root system and/or the soil. It is essential for plants to have good drainage so that water doesn’t remain on their roots and they can get the nutrients they need. So you could check the root system and repot if need be, but they really don’t need to be repotted often. Maybe a year or two later is when I’d repot it. A good mix would be something with perlite and sphagnum.

It is difficult for a plant to degrade this fast unless it lacks light, was exposed to temperature extremes, water is too much/too little, or pests are destroying it from the roots. I’m assuming you have checked for pests in both the soil and on the plant and ruled that out. The first picture doesn’t look like cold or sun burn. It could be insufficient light. Yucca thrives is very bright light and prefers full sun. It can take higher temperatures similar to cacti. Verify it gets 8-10 hours of light preferably in a south or east facing. It is probably an overwatering issue based on the yellow floppy leaves. Plants tend to grow slower in colder months. So, less water is needed. Water only after the soil fully dries out. 🍀🪴

I would move it around until it finds it spot, that’s what I had to do with mine. You should also check for bugs on the underside.

Thank you, I’ve come to the conclusion that the soil I bought the plant in, is not draining well and will be getting the plant into a more suitable soil mix!
