We live in Colorado which is pretty dry, but we got a whole-house humidifier which keeps our humidity level indoors at about 50-60%. Do I need to mist my plants so often? I just resolved a horrible fungus gnat issue that was in every one of my 20 plants, so I really dont want them to come back. Any thoughts?
I don’t mist mine at all, ask misting them for me has done is bring my fungus so of course fungus gnats as well!! I use a humidifier and I don’t think missing them is very beneficial at all, it’s just my opinion but I think missing them or making a pebble tray is more for someone who isn’t using a humidifier.
2 Me gusta I just read your post again and yeah I most definitely wouldn’t be misting them at all!! Keep the humidifier where it is that should be perfect I would think!! I feel you I just got rid of fungus gnats myself, it’s not like they are bothersome flying in your face like regular gnats it’s just that I know they are there period!! For a preventative measure mix their soil with cinnamon or if your not repotting them anytime soon put some on top of their soil and water it in, that should help them stay fine as well!!🌱✨🌱

General consensus of plant people is that misting is pretty much useless. The only benefit is that it makes the person feel like they are doing something beneficial. However I will mist my open terrariums because the humidity is somewhat contained in a small almost closed area. And that humidity level should be fine for most any plant.
3 Me gusta Yeah Phil I mist my air plants as well but one is contained and they aren’t very big so it’s very little mist. Hey Phil by the way I made a mistake and bought my air plants in containers and I’ve had them any I about six months and they are happy but if I took them out of their containers it would literally kill them and we don’t want that!! Any magic knowledge that you want to share with me??🌱✨🌱

Misting doesn’t retain humidity, that should be good humidity for most plants I also live in Colorado but have a whole humidifier for my plant area lol.
