BAD I have one and it got fungus from that
좋아요 1개oh god thank you i will remove it right away 🫡
2개 좋아요BAD! I’ve lost 3-4 plants because of them!!! Restricted root growth. They grew just fine for a few months. I’d left them either in original nursery pot or I followed the advise of not messing with the root ball when transplanting and therefore didn’t see it because of dirt that covered it. Either case, did well for a bit and Boom! they looked hideous almost overnight and died despite my best efforts to salvage them. Unless I know the person that grew from seed or that they removed or checked for them before they transplanted, I inspect each new plant for one shortly after receiving it!
2개 좋아요Yes i will have to start doing that from now on a lot of her roots were rotted
좋아요 1개Yes always remove - sometimes you’ll find bands also remove them also. It limits growth and sometimes we miss it for too long and lose the plant all together.
2개 좋아요I believe they’re Soil Bags that they used when the plant was teeny tiny in a greenhouse somewhere, but then they never remove them from it. It really should be degradable or just removed all together prior to repotting, but it’s not unfortunately.
2개 좋아요ohh okay thank you! sadly i lost a lot of roots but hopefully she will be okay!
0개 좋아요Yeah. Darn things!! I know…lots of people say they don’t harm the plants. But I beg to differ. They restrict the roots. Unfortunately, you just don’t usually find out they’re on your plant until damage is done. 🫤
0개 좋아요Yes! I wish there was some alert that they are on the plant!
좋아요 1개Is there an easy way to find out
0개 좋아요If your Monstera is doing fine then leave it alone. At the next repot just remove all the soil from the root ball and take a peek.
