Someone at work left this plant in the faculty lounge on Friday after watering it. It was in pretty bad shape with two dying leaves. I wanted to take it with me but figured that since they had watered it maybe they were taking care of it. Today it was still in the faculty lounge, which does not have any windows. I decided I didn’t want to leave it there to die, so I left a note that it was now in the window with my room number in case they want to get it. Do you think that was an OK thing to do? I didn’t want to just take it but I hated seeing it not have any sunlight. I then pruned the two dying leaves off. Planta says it is a sunflower. Can anyone ID it? I decided if no one comes to claim it I will take it home when classes end in a few weeks. If it is a sunflower should it then be moved to the ground or can it stay in a pot?
