Just got a Bunch of plants tonight. I have a few that I believe need to be repotted. This one is the blushing philodendron. Roots everywhere. I could not get this one out of the pot. 2nd one is the Aubrey Ficus. This was one of the super super dry ones. Ficus also had a lean to it, I’m figuring cause it’s dying of thirst lol anywho. Do either of these need to be repotted?

Hi there, I’d repot the philo but would probably leave the ficus a bit longer, especially if it’s in need of a little TLC at the moment. 🌿🌿

I was thinking the same thing. I know some plants love being a little root bound and others do not. Problem is that I’ve been collecting a lot of new plants lately and I’m over here trying to remember what’s what lol

I wouldnt stress about it too much. Not sure what side of the world you’re in but you could also do nothing if it’s not your growing season ie weather is cooling. Plant growth will slow down anyway so you don’t have much to lose. And then when you go into the next spring, you might have a few potential repots together. I also repot all year round, just depends on the laziness to effort ratio :)

Well I have 3 other repots to do tomorrow lol. A good dust croton, a galaxy aralia. A lemon lime corn plant which I just got a few hours ago, but it’s completely drenched, and I can smell a little root rot going on. And now the philo lol

Always good to do on the same day to minimise the mess. If I can offer one bit of unsolicited advice about repotting, if doing diy soil mixes for different plant varieties isn’t where you are at (and completely understandable when starting out!), I would just use good quality potting mix and perlite, to the ratio of 3 parts soil to 1 part perlite.
