Is my cast iron plant too far gone? I used another app to diagnose my plant and it suggested it has root rot due to overwatering…I am most definitely not, I keep forgetting to water him. I do have him in a self-watering pot. Could that be a problem? Could drought be the problem? The app also mentioned a fungal infection causing the brown leaves and suggested pruning them. Do I take the whole stalk or just from where it broadens to the leaf? It suggested pruning the wilted leaves as well, same question, from where? Don’t I need some leaves left for photosynthesis? Would a bigger pot, and fertilizer help at all? I don’t want to shock it too much.

The brown tips are most likely not enough humidity. Just cut off the brown but leave a tiny bit on so you don't cut into the green. I would cut off everything that looks dead or bad and leave the rest alone. Are roots coming out of the bottom or the top? If not then it doesn't need a bigger pot. Fertilizer could help but use only a little bit if you're in the winter months like me.

Looks like you need to water it more. And also check for pests.

Watering it more makes a lot of sense

I would pry move it to a different pot cuz I'm not a big fan of self watering pots. I don't know if it actually needs a bigger pot, just one that's about an inch bigger than the root ball. I would pry wait about a week or until the next watering to fertilize it, just because I don't like to fertilize a stressed plant. Once I've fixed the problem (like watering more or repotting) I will to help it recover.
