Can you propagate a snake plant without using an entire long leaf? What is the smallest length of leaf you can propogate

    you can definitely just trim the leaves instead of using the whole thing. i'd give it 2inches per cutting.

      Yes water until you see roots. I warn you they are very slow to propagate.

    I have not tried this, theoretically you could take one large leaf cutting, separate into 2” pieces, and prop them all. Make sure to let the cut callus over before you put in water or soil.

      I like them too and they are so low maintenance. Out of interest, what kind of soil do you use for your snake plants?

      Sorry it took me a while to see this. I swear by a premium potting mix called Ivy May. Ivy May DuNEs is what I use for my cacti and succulents. When I’ve struggled with gnats, they leave the plants potted in Ivy May alone. It has these little balls of peppermint essential oil that deter pests and smell amazing. I believe it is redwood bark based. I have also used and like Ivy May for aroids, but Dunes is the real winner as far as I’m concerned. Don’t have a heart attack, it’s $20 for 4qt. It is available online from the manufacturer in bigger bags which is more cost effective, but then you get nailed with the shipping cost 😖.
