My dieffenbachia is doing great but it’s coming to the dreaded leaning stage. Should I repot and put it on a pole now? I could opt for a bigger pot but I know how temperamental this plant can get. Would it be better if it were repotted in a deeper pot?
It looks like it’s leaning towards the sun. Just turn it around.

I have no luck with these. Mine get about a foot and a half tall then all my leaves always die off. Then I start with a stump and the same plant will do the same thing over and over. I think they are a neat plant but I won’t do them anymore. 😩
0 likesI’ve never needed a pole for mine; I just turn it the opposite way it is leaning and it always corrects itself.

Oh man, that’s such a pretty dieffenbachia. Mine flopped over at about 3-4ft. I was actually in the room the moment both stems collapsed, I was so surprised! So I cut and replanted them back in the soil for the more full plant I have today. I included a tall bamboo pole to lash them to. Here’s some photos of the plant in 2022 and now. Yours is killer! Gonna be a show stopper as it grows.

Make sure you’re watering until water comes out the bottom! If you don’t the roots won’t grow all the way down and will be too shallow to hold up the plant!

Try o hill dirt up around the base of the plant. It encourages fuller growth at the bottom, and the new growth helps support the existing plant. Think of it like hilling potatoes as they grow. All of my Dieffenbachias are hilled, and it works great for encouraging growth and keeping the plants fuller.
