Hey lovelies I just got my first fiddle leaf fig from Marketplace. It looks like it has some really healthy leaves, but I know they’re temperamental so checking in here to improve my odds. 1) it kinda looks like it’s in a pot that’s too big? It looks so tiny in this huge pot - would it maybe like to be a bit more snug? 2) I see a lot of brown spots and brown veins-like on the middle newest leaf. Is this some kind of sickness? Any advice? 3) it is definitely dusty - best experience for cleaning these? Thank you!! 🙏🏻 🪴

The red pigment is a sign of overwatering the pot does look large and I’d recommend terracotta

I’m no expert but so have a large fiddle fig (that was bought large). The pot seems too big to me, too. My 5.5ft tree is in a similar size, totally root bound, and has grown healthy new leaves. 🤷🏼‍♀️ Not sure if the new leaf is diseased, but I’d cut it off. 😭 Maybe it was damaged while growing? To clean, I just misted the leaves with water and used a lot of paper towels. I’ve heard that vinegar also works well! Enjoy your fiddle!

brown spots are normal! They are just characteristics of this type of plant! Ofc, if they get bigger or start looking weird, then it might be fungal or overwatering

Agreed that that the pot is disproportionately large. Mine’s roots love to be snug. It’ll survive but may not thrive. The spots do tend to appear sometimes on new leaves. Usually they go away as they mature. Be sure you’re super consistent with your watering - I wait until mine’s dry half way down or leaves start to droop a tiny bit. As far as cleaning leaves, I go super basic most of the time with a damp dust rag. Definitely clean the leaves regularly! 🌿
