I got this philodendron golden dragon a few months ago and the first leaf it gave me since I bought it was mutated, having 2 leaves fused together (you can see the two mid ribs on the one leaf). Then it gave me a sheath just by itself and not attached to a stem or anything, then it gave me a leaf after that. THEN it put out a whole different growth point, and out of that growth point came 2 sheaths not attached to anything, then two leaves beside each sheath. Now it’s putting out 2 new lone sheaths inside the 2 sheaths from the new growth point which I assume both have leaves in them. I love this plant but it’s very confusing haha. I’ve tried to do research but I haven’t really been able to find anyone else that has this kind of plant. Let me know if anyone has experienced this strange growth and/or has a philodendron golden dragon!!

Golden dragons are goofy, they are thought to be a bipennifolium hybrid. Bc they’re a hybrid you never really know what you’re gonna get with the leaves. The growth pattern looks normal to me? Other than the weird double rib.

Oh makes sense! Maybe the growth is normal for this plant haha. On the older leaves tho the sheaths were attached to the stems rather than just by themselves
