I’m itching to get another plant. What are your thoughts on buying plants from Etsy during the winter months? Most of these nurseries are in Florida or California and it’d be shipped to the Midwest.

I had multiple shipments from Etsy since October (and this winter has been cold for sure) but haven’t lost a single plant (entirely). Some have needed some rehabbing. I did not get cuttings or bare root shipments, however, and all of them had a heat pack. I’m in Ohio and actually had a lot of luck with Etsy.

I just bought an alocascia venom from Etsy. Arrived in damn near perfect condition. It’ll be a little more expensive, but if you pay for insulation on your orders, they will arrive just the same as any other season. 😊

Good to know. I've been hesitant to buy online on the winter

I got these little guys from Etsy and they’re totally fine! I do a lot of review reading first 😂 and you can see they’ve already grown this winter

I’ve ordered many plants over the winter, last year and this year. I always get insulation AND a heat pack. I haven’t had any casualties this year. Some come out pristine! I also ship plants - I insulate, but of the plants shipped without a heat pack, some of them died in transit, or lost all their foliage (I don’t require customers to order heat packs).
