I have a 4 year old fiddle leaf fig that needs to be trimmed because it is almost too tall for the room. Can anyone share advice of how to prune it and propagate a new plant?

That just seems so brutal. 🥹
1 me gustaIt does but I would only take off the top section that’s getting too tall and then you have a baby one too!
0 Me gustaJust cut to the height you want. Then take the cuttings and take the bottom 2 leaves off and stick it in water.

Does it matter what season it is? Should I wait until Spring?
0 Me gustaMe, I chop anytime. But most will wait till beginning of March, even the end, when the growing season starts. If I’m going to root the cuttings, I’ll do it now so it’s rooted by spring. But that’s my opinion. Everyone does what works for them. Depending where you live and climate too. I’m in Toronto Canada where nothing should be done in the winter. It’s cold and dry.

Last summer I chopped my 6 foot FLF in half. I took about a 2 foot piece from the top and put it in water in front of a south facing window. All of the leaves turned brown and dropped off but eventually it started growing roots and small leaves appeared. Be patient. The roots took over 3 months to grow. I just kept changing the water. Now it looks like this.

Wonderful!
0 Me gustaHiii!! I follow houseplusplant on IG and she has amazing advice on how to prop. What she does is cut where you desire, remove the lower leaves, then stick the cutting in a clear plastic grow pot filled with perlite. Then set in a shallow dish of water for self watering and watch as the cutting grows roots and new leaves!
