I’m a plant newbie, and will be setting up my new sunroom this weekend. How helpful is it to have a humidifier in the room where you have a lot of plants?? The sunroom faces east, but I’ll also have the rest of my collection scattered throughout the house.

Welcome to the club! Plant care has so many benefits…enjoy! To answer your question, for me I think humidifiers can help, especially when it comes to tropical plants, but I’d check the room’s actual humidity first. If it’s already around 50–60%, you may not need one. In a sunroom, good airflow matters just as much so the extra humidity doesn’t create other problems. 🌿

Humidifiers are very helpful for some plants (ferns and orchids) and not necessary for others. And I agree, check your ambient humidity

If you plan on keeping sensitive plants like some begonias, most ferns, and most tropical plants, then a humidifier is definitely important in keeping leaves from getting crispy edges. 2 humidifiers are better than 1 as well because it more evenly disperses humidity and keeps the humidifiers from surprise running empty on you in the middle of the night. You can easily get a perfectly new 20$ humidifier by going on Amazon and buying a “used like new” one. Evaporative humidifiers are 10/10 the supreme choice vs ultrasonic. There’s much less white residue, they don’t make the room soggy, and they typically run much more efficiently.

I've tried humidifiers on and off around my plants and never found much of a different imo
