Hi guys! I am a newbie. I think I’m ready to re-pot my first plant (Calathea Velvet “Wave Star”). Any tips? I also live in a flat - so can’t imagine keeping a big sack of soil anywhere. Any storage solutions for soil? 😊

Do you have a lock box in a garage, or in a storage area? If so, you could put a plastic container with a sealed top anywhere… even under a bed, in the back of a closet, on top of a closet; or you could also buy just a small bag of soil, only enough for this one repot. Hope you get it figured out and are able to repot your first plant; that’s exciting for a first timer! Have fun, 🤗💚🪴!

2 Me gustaFor repotting, you’ll want to repot in something that is only 1-2 inches bigger than the root system. Drainage holes are very important. You can put your plant plastic pot that has holes, and then slip that into a decorative pot. Well draining soil is good too. When I first started houseplanting and lived in a super tiny space, I just bought regular potting soil and added a nice amount of perlite into it. I’ve started adding some bark into the mix now.
2 Me gustaI keep most of my plant stuff on this shelf that I put together from spare parts of my display plant shelving. It's in our spare closet with Christmas decor and fish tank supplies lol

I have a bin in the closet that I store plant stuff in. The key for me is to ensure you seal any soil tightly and wash any pots thoroughly.
