Does anyone else mist terra cotta pots when they mist their plants? Doesn’t seem to do any harm, but I also don’t know if it does any good??

Ehhh I’d probably take it or leave it, I’d say it wouldn’t do much to exert extra energy to mist the pots, since terracotta is so absorbent it probably absorbs into the pot before even reaching the soil, so it would be a net loss anyways. Almost in the way that when you eat certain vegetables, it takes more energy to digest the vegetables than it gives you, so the calories gained is actually negative.
0 Mi piaceNo harm in doing it and it probably adds a little humidity to the air as it evaporates from the pot.
1 mi piaceBenefit is pretty much nil. The “benefit” of terracotta is that it helps prevent overwatering because it absorbs moisture from the soil. You are actually negating that benefit. That’s my thoughts anyway.
1 mi piaceThat makes me wonder if a terra cotta pot isn’t the best thing for a peace lily. Thoughts?
0 Mi piacePeace lilies like moisture. I wouldn’t use them for that plant but nothing wrong with doing so.
