My brother is moving into an apartment with north/north east facing windows. I’d love to gift him some plants because he has huge 12ft windows. What would be the best ones for him? I would say he’s a beginner plant keeper. Thanks!

Plants that thrive in my North windows: pothos, scindapsus, trailing philodendrons, my orchid (it shouldn’t, but it does lol)

0 J'aimeAgree with the pothos recommendation if you think he won’t mind messing around with the trailing stuff. I think a peace lily would work perfect, especially for a beginner - they thrive no matter where I put them, do well in self watering pots AND droop when their thirsty so they’ll remind him when they need more water in case he forgets.

Is he an under or over waterer by nature? 😄 If over, I’d recommend begonias! A north window would be great for most begonias, and they’re very rewarding. If an underwater, of course there’s snake plants… and Aglaonema! They’re great in a variety of light levels, don’t mind drying out, are resilient, but also have an endless array of colors and leaf patterns to choose from. 💚🤍🩷❤️🥰
1 j'aimeI have 2 pothos that thrive in self watering pots with only sun from a issue shady skylight. The self watering pots help when I was starting out to keep me from overwatering or when I would forget about them.
