Here’s my fiddle leaf fig, he is almost 2 years old. He’s been THRIVING in this spot, but I’m worried he needs a repot (same pot for the past 2 years) Everything I see says that fiddle leafs are very dramatic after a repot. Any advice yall have about repotting or what I should do, please let me know!

I didn’t experience any issues when I repotted mine. When I repotted it, I switched it to a self-watering pot, and it’s been thriving! I think I repotted it about 7 or 8 months ago, and it’s only dropped one leaf (that was already on its way out). However, it’s grown FIVE (🤯) more in that time frame.

It definitely has taken lots of time, but finding a bright window has made all the difference!

Fiddles are fiddly 🥴 I’ve killed 3 in the past, unknown circumstances of death. I did everything from being a helicopter parent to neglect. Recently my longest lasting one (2years also) is/was about the same height as yours and had gotten really leggy, with few leaves at the bottom. Decided to risk it and chopped it in half. Propagated the top half with 5 big leaves in water with rooting powder. After 4 weeks and a huge growth of roots I finally potted it. If you’re happy with its height and are going for repotting my advice would be: Replant into a plastic pot, the clear see through ones are best for checking root growth etc. Don’t upsize to a significantly bigger pot. I think this is the main cause of stress in fiddles. The plant stops growing above soil and tries to fill the space below. They like a snug root system, so I’d only recommend repotting if you pull it out and find the roots are severely bound. If it’s not broken, don’t fix it 😂 throw some fertiliser and maybe replace some of the top soil. If choosing to repot though… I use an orchard potting mix with some perlite and small rocks thrown in for the soil as I find this gives the roots heaps of oxygen. Add an organic tonic like liquid seaweed, and a tiny pinch of granular fertiliser. I give it a good drink and then leave it where it’s been happiest for at least 2 weeks before touching it again. Then pray, don’t look in its direction, ask the universe for good wishing 😂 sometimes they’re dramatic, sometimes they’re tough as nails
