So no carnivorous plant groups? Anyway here is my newest plantie friend chubby chomps . If you’ve seen teen titans go you will know the name lol hoping he gets enough to eat I got fungus gnats im trying to control . Not expecting it to be the controller but figured win win new plant & could help with the battle lol . I’ve been wanting to get another one ( I wasn’t a good plant mom in my teens) I want to make a terrarium for carnivorous plants eventually .

Also, beautiful plant, one of the prettiest fly traps I have ever seen. Unfortunately though it won’t help with fungus gnats. Fly traps need a larger insect to trigger it, like house flies. For fungus gnats, drosera and butterwort work great (see my pic of drosera covered in gnats). I would personally still like to add a VFT to my collection. I don’t think you have to feed them too often and I have crickets on hand for reptiles, in case it doesn’t catch any flies or moths or anything. Do you know what cultivar it is?

I do want to get those I’ve just wanted a Venus for a while not expecting it to do too much . lol 😁 honestly I have no clue what type it is you know they just label them as a generic Venus but when I usually see them the traps a pretty tiny & This big guy caught my eye rt away the traps are the size of the tip of my fingers actually bigger more like my thumb . so I know it’s not one I’ve seen before .

Nice! I love the drosera plants I have. So far they have been the easiest and hardest working of the carnivorous plants I have and that one I showed you a picture of has been growing like crazy! I’m sure you will love yours too. Just make sure to give it decent light. I put them on a bookcase with regular LED puck lights for a while and they suffered a bit before I moved them under a plant light and they recovered nicely.

Did you get it at Home Depot? I got mine from there and they looked just like yours. Mine died off pretty quickly though. I think it may be because I didn’t use distilled water and used tap water instead. Make sure you are using distilled water for watering this plant. Make sure to keep the soil moist but not wet. If you do everything right and keep this plant happy with something to eat once in a while you might even get it to show it's flowers. Happy growing.

I actually got it at a Wegmens grocery store. I don’t use tap for any of my plants so it’s all good .
