New aquarium setup! I’m setting this tank up riparian style so that the roots will filter the tank. It’s been cycling for about a week. My plan is is to have a community betta tank (yes, they can live with other fish- just not other bettas) I’ll have one male betta, a mystery snail and shrimp for algae control, and a small school of tetras.
i’ve been dreaming of doing this — right down to the shrimp!!! you’re living my dream!!
3 J'aime It’s been a blast to put it together! I gathered the materials for about a month and a lot of the materials I found on Craigslist. (Sun lamp and heater) It’s very relaxing to watch and I don’t even have any critters in it yet! 😄

Pretty sure the betta will eat the shrimp. I had Gourami’s that wiped out like 30 of my shrimp before I figured out what was going on. So keep an eye on that if you’re gonna try it out.
2 J'aime Yeah, I’m going to introduce the shrimp first so it may not be as territorial. Here’s hoping. 🤞
