i have the same problem with my alocasia polly’s… it almost seems like it’s putting all of its energy into the new leaf

This variety likes evenly moist soil. It does put a lot of energy into growing new large leaves and can use up more water. They thrive in full sun and has dark green leaves when grown in bright direct light. The yellowing leaves could be a watering issue and/or insufficient lighting.

Your plant is pretty chlorotic, so you’ve got some kind of nutrient deficiency going on. It may be breaking down older leaves to try to resorb the nutrients used to build them. Do you fertilize? These guys are very heavy feeders. This pattern looks like a mag deficiency just at first glance.

I had the same problem with mine. I was never able to keep more than two leaves at a time. I moved it outside and it started doing so much better. I believe they love a lot of sunlight
