I have a pepperomia Hope. And it’s about 3 feet long, I’ve trimmed it up a little bit because it was getting too leggy. I water it on a regular schedule. It’s an a west facing window. But my question is that the leaves are feeling very squishy or soft when you try to do the taco test. And some of them actually look like they are dehydrated. I’ve never had this happen to pepperomia before so I am not sure. Can someone help me? I’m not exactly sure what’s going on.

Peperomia’s need to dry out between watering. So depending on your schedule it could be over or under watered. If the soil is bone dry then its definitely underwatered. I would try bottom watering it to allow it to absorb as much water as it needs. Wait a day and you should see the leaves plump back up. I find with this plant the taco test isn’t the greatest, by the time my leaves “taco” the plant is very dehydrated. Gently squeezing my leaves to see if they’re texture is soft or not works much better. Also, my west facing window ended up being too intense for mine so I moved it further away and it’s gotten a lot happier.

Interesting. Yeah, I actually had it set back from the West facing window about 6 feet. And I didn’t think it was getting enough sun. So I moved it closer but prior to that is when the leaves started to look a little wrinkly or dehydrated. I will move it for sure. I think I’m also going to take it off its pot and check the roots and stuff. See if it’s dry or not. I haven’t potted it in about a year and a half. I also recently moved from California to Arizona. The plant did great. But I wonder if after the six weeks I’ve been here if it’s kind of gone into a little bit of shock?

All good ideas! Mine is about 12ft from my west facing window and gets 45 mins of direct sun at the very end of the day. I’m in Western Canada so there is no way my sun is more intense than yours in AZ lol. Definitely check its roots, it also might be time for a bit of a soil refresher if its been that long since repotting. 6 weeks post move seems like a long time for shock to show up. I’m gonna guess it’s probably not that.
