Best wishes to everyone on this first day of 2026! I would like some tips and advice on keeping moss poles moist. Posted photos of the three philos: brasil, silver sword and a paraiso verde. I've tried daily misting, but found it way too time-consuming and didn't seem to really work except getting everything around the plants wet too. Now, I've switched to a bottle and drip method, it's better but I wonder if there's some easier way.

I usually use a bottle and drip method also, I find it the easiest

They just became too cumbersome and time consuming. I started using trellises from Treleaf. Plus they look a lot better. But I have a lot of plants to tend to. You may not.

I have a several still maturing, but will need something eventually. I'm curious about trellises, but wasn't sure if the aerial roots needed the moisture of the moss.

According to the people at Treleaf, the plants will attach themselves. It’s only been a couple months so don’t have the results yet. I have a neon and a cebu blue in heavy ceramic planters. I needed to move them to attend to the moss poles and it was just too much trouble. But have not added trellises to them yet. I trimmed them way back and they are just spilling over the sides. I think I’m going to keep them trimmed. I do have trellises on some other plants. Will be adding one to the white knight in the pic. That needs to happen soon. And potting them up was an extreme mess. Cause you need to remove the plant or even repot to get the moss pole in. I’m done with them. They were a mess and they look bad. At least I thought so. But give it a try at least. It’s a learning experience to add to your plant knowledge.

Here a Treleaf trellis on my choco empress. So you see what they look like. This plant is so wide couldn’t get it all in the pic.

Here ya go. A wider shot. I added the trellis early when I repotted just to have it ready.

I also have a bunch of trelearf trellises. Can attest that the plants do attach but I find humidity to be very helpful in that. I also attach them with Velcro if needed. For reference…

I've no moss poles but if I were to plan on using them, I've seen a YTuber, and in a FB group, they wrap the pole in Saran wrap to keep moisture in. I also would think the bottle drip method is good. Best of luck with whichever method you decide!

Gorgeous. I do like the wood look. I saw a video with someone who used "ironwood bark" for a natural look. But, yes, everything seems to be an experiment and that's why I love getting insights into what others are trying.
