    Plant 17 more; expect 2 survivors. Tomatoes want to do two things: smell like tomato plant, and die. They'll get fusarium wilt. They'll get verticillium wilt. They'll get too dry. They'll be over watered. They'll get mosaic virus. The survivors, though, will probably give tomatoes better than any tomato you can get in a store or restaurant (though they need good nutrition for that, so fertilize every so often)

      Oh my goodness please ignore me; I was overtired last night AND had a couple glasses of wine... I should not have been on Planta unsupervised 🤣😭 the major takeaway is that if you really want to grow tomatoes, plant more than one, so that you don't lose all your efforts if one plant dies. Make sure your expectations are realistic, as well-- growing food is fun and awesome and I encourage you to take care of your tiny tomato, but be ready to plant again if it doesn't work out the first time.

      Thanks im planting a couple more incase the big one doesn’t work out

    Oh and for a real tip-- if you or anyone you know uses tobacco, make sure not to touch the plant after handling tobacco products. Mosaic virus seems to survive some types of tobacco processing (like cigarette and cigar production). Also, tomatoes want consistent watering, rather than drying out and then getting heavy watering.
