What size was this plant when you first got it; you’ve only had it for 10 months and it’s 2 feet high! It’s obviously extremely healthy for it to flower. I’ve had mine for years, and I’ve never seen such thing. Wish I could though, I’d be happier than a pig in doo-doo! Can you tell me what lighting conditions you have, how often you water it, any specifics that would help me help mine grow like yours?! TIA for any info. Regards, 🤗💚🪴

I got it in October 2023. It was approximately 2 feet tall that time. It did not grow any leaves until about seven or eight months after I had it. I was able to harvest corms from it that grew new leaves before the mother plant started to grow any new leaves. Then started to drop leaves in late spring early summer and I thought that I had overwatered it. It dropped multiple leaves, I let it dry out multiple times, again thinking I had overwatered it. I almost threw it away because it looked like it had dropped so many original leaves and still hadn’t put out any new leaves. It looked like a shell of what it was when I bought it and had little hope it was going to survive. I was just waiting until I had time to fish out the corms from what was left in the soil or my husband said it looked so bad I should throw it away 😆 I cut off the dead leaves and let it dry out a few times (a lot). Then when it had about 1/3 of the leaves it originally had, it started to put out a new leaf, and I was surprised it was larger than any of the previous leaves. Then it put out a second larger leaf. Then it grew what I guess is now a flower? 🤷‍♀️ I honestly gave up on it and quit watering it because I thought it was overwatered it and was waiting for it to die when so many leaves started turning yellow and dropping. I did move it closer to a window during that time, also in the hope that it would dry out more. Honestly, I’m just going to ignore it now and let it dry out more and hope for the best. I already feel like I’m on borrowed time because I thought it was going to [for sure] die.

What an experience you’ve had with this plant, it’s such an amazing story! I know that this plant likes to really dry out before it gets watered again, so perhaps whoever had it previously was watering too often and that’s why you lost leaves.
