Does anyone have tips on how to help a ficus elastica’s leaves if they start to droop? I came back from vacation to find one of mine had three of its leaves drooping. Watered it, checked its roots, and moved it to a warmer spot after considering that perhaps it got too cold in the windowsill while I was gone. My second ficus now has a leaf drooping, and I’m unsure why, as she was recently watered and I don’t know what’s causing the drooping in her either, but would like to stop it before it gets worse like my first ficus. Any advice is greatly appreciated. TIA!

If the leaves are still firm when they droop it is most likely underwatered. If they are a little soft, they are over watered. With the sun changing position in the sky and getting lower, light might also have something to do with it. I would be mindful of how far you move it from the windowsill. They do love a ton of light and I let mine dry out completely in between waterings. Are there any brown or yellow spots starting to form?

I see. Brown spots developed on the Tineke’s leaves, and the leaves that had brown on them began to turn yellow. I’ve had them in a south windowsill since I got them. The yellowed leaves were soft, and the other leaves that are still drooping on the Tineke are soft, but the one on my Belize is firm

Is the soil hydrophobic? It might need a thorough soaking. Like dunk it in water that comes all the way up the sides of the pot and let it sit for at least an hour.

Not hydrophobic. Repotted them not too long ago with fresh soil, so I’m pretty stumped. I don’t believe I’m overwatering or underwatering either of them.

That’s really weird. It sounds like it’s getting good sun, maybe give it a check for peskies. If leaves are soft that’s making me think rot. But maybe it needs warmth? Is the window well insulated or can you feel the cold if you put your hand where the plant is? If that’s the case maybe just move it back a few inches from the window.

No pests. I moved all my ficuses to a warmer window to try and rule out the cold a couple of days ago, but still no change. You could feel the windowsill was a bit cold if you put your hand against it, so my best guess is that they got cold while I was away. Should I use plant velcro tape for the leaves that are still drooping?
