I’m not quite sure what the name of this plant is called (I’ve had it in my Planta as “cactus mixed variety”. It’s starting to grow these little “limbs”. Does anyone know what these are?

Probably seeds
0개 좋아요Google Mammillaria spinosissima. They may be flowers but I'm not sure. 🤷🏼
2개 좋아요This is a mammillaria, which do produce a cute little crown of flowers with the right conditions, but these are definitely seed pods. I would remove the plastic flower too, i’ve seen them cause mold and other nasty effects 🫠
2개 좋아요Oh no! I’ll work on getting that little guy off. What will the seed pods do? Get bigger and fall off?

좋아요 1개The plant in the image appears to be a **Mammillaria** cactus, specifically one of the varieties from the *Mammillaria* genus, known for its round, spiny shape. The pink "flower" on top is likely an artificial decoration, as it's a common practice to adorn these cacti with plastic flowers at garden stores. Mammillaria cacti are native to Mexico and are a popular choice for indoor succulent and cactus collections due to their compact size and ease of care. These cacti produce real flowers, typically in a ring around the top of the plant, which can be pink, red, or yellow, depending on the species. Key tips for caring for a *Mammillaria* cactus: - **Light**: They thrive in bright, indirect sunlight. Direct sunlight for long periods can cause sunburn. - **Water**: Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry completely between waterings, especially during the winter months. - **Soil**: Well-draining cactus or succulent mix is ideal. - **Temperature**: These cacti prefer warm temperatures but can tolerate cool, dry conditions in winter as long as they are protected from frost.

0개 좋아요*Mammillaria* cacti typically bloom in **spring and early summer**. The exact timing can vary based on the species, growing conditions, and environment. The flowers generally form in a ring or crown around the top of the cactus, producing small, colorful blooms that can be pink, red, white, or yellow. To encourage blooming, make sure the cactus receives plenty of bright, indirect sunlight and is properly cared for during its growing season. A cooler winter rest period with reduced watering can also help stimulate blooming in the spring.
