Hello plant experts! I acquired this monstera today from a really nice lady in my neighborhood, and I am quite intimidated with how to take care of her. She’s quite large, she’s in a 10in nursery pot currently, and I placed her inside a 12” planter. Is she big enough that I need to repot her straight into the planter? The back of the plant is at the edge of the nursery pot… and I’m unsure how I would add stakes for support. Any advice welcome!
Size of the plant does not determine whether you need to repot, monsteras actually prefer being a bit root bound but if she is pretty root bound then you could repot if you want. She is beautiful btw
0 likes Ok, I’m just confused with what to do with it since the end is touching the edge of the nursery pot. If size is not an issue, should I repot anyway because it’s at the edge and don’t know if it’s detrimental to its health?
0 likes Nope, it won’t do anything detrimental to the plant but you could prop it up like what Brittany said

It's not bad for its health. If you want you could lift her up a bit and put some kind of support right back there for her to climb.

That thing is glorious 🤩 wow You can lift that stem up, put a stake real snug next to where it comes out of the soil, and tie the stem to it. Just be sure it’s the main stem that’s tied & not the petioles (leaf stems).

Here’s how I have mine staked. Thought the pic might help. Also, the size of the rootball determines what size pot you need. Choose a pot that is an inch or two larger than the rootball.
