Hello! I’ve been a florist for a few months at a store and wish to expand my knowledge of both flowers and potted plants! I also happen to have a new puppy and was hoping for advice on choosing pet friendly plants😁

Congratulations on the florist gig and the new furry baby!! Exciting times ☺️ What’s the cutie’s name? The ASPCA website has a database of plants which you can sort to show only toxic or only non-toxic. And you can choose to show results specific to dogs, cats, and/or horses I don’t know off the top of my head what the most popular pet-friendly plants are, but the first ones that come to mind are goldfish plant and peperomia. There’s also plants like spider plant and parlor palm, which are nontoxic but they’re basically shaped like a giant green cat toy lol. So they won’t hurt the pet, but I don’t recommend them because they make playing with plants fun, which I think reinforces the wrong behavior imo My personal method is just having an ancient granny cat who couldn’t be bothered… even before she lost her sight 😅😂 But yeah, most people have rambunctious kittens or puppies at some point in their life, so that’s not really replicable advice lol The big NO plant I hear a lot of stories about is Easter lily. Never never with a pet in the house. And that’s relevant to being a florist too. Maybe you already know that then Anyway, I hope that helps, and happy planting! ☺️ Give the puppy a pat for me
