Please help! I have had this “easy plant” for a while and it has done well in this pot but the leaves are starting to yellow and droop. Should I repot in a more traditional self draining pot? Thank you!!

IDC what anyone says, the fiddle leaf fig is NOT an easy plant. A lot of the experienced plant enthusiasts on YouTube I follow would not recommend this plant for beginners. I love that plant, but I refuse to get one until I have kept my easier plants alive for 3 years.

Is that a self-watering pot? Not sure what you meant by what you said about changing pots in your original comment. Does it have drainage holes?

It’s one of the “easyplants” you can buy with the self watering pots. I have had it for several years and it has done well but recently seems to be doing worse. I think I am going to try repotting and misting more regularly in the meantime to help it along.

fiddle leaves are NOT easy by any means. they're fussy and hate everything. they're prone to root rot and drop their leaves at just about every inconvenience.

Does your soil drain well? This is what I use for mine and it works well: 45% coco coir 30% chunky perlite 20% worm castings and 5% mycorrhizae fungus dusted over the roots. Coco coir helps to hold water evenly while staying airy to prevent root rot, perlite allows better drainage and prevents soil compaction around the roots, worm castings slowly release fertiliser between liquid feeds, fungus attaches to the roots extending their reach better absorption and stress resistant (figs hate being repotted and this reduces transplant shock) I’m not sure what soil / aggregates you use but hope this helps x

I bought 3 plants from EasyPlant a couple of years ago and I’ve taken them all out of the self watering pots. I ended up overwatering them. You should at least check the plants roots, I was able to lift mY FLF right out of the internal pot so i knew it was time to repot. That bigger branch could be weighing itself down a bit, you could give it a little chop and it’ll promote some branching. I personally don’t mist my plant’s - additional moisture on the leaves can lead to fungal infections. I use a humidifier occasionally and group my plants together for a little added humidity. I’ve also found this little guide helpful

Thank you so much! I will save that guide too. Plan to repot it today or tomorrow. I appreciate your help!!

Good luck! Be prepared for your FLF to be dramatic and look like it’s dying after you repot! 😆 Trust the process, it’ll bounce back! 😊🪴
