A fellow Planta member suggested that this product would increase whiteness in variegated plants. Does anyone know anything about this product? I have questions on efficacy, usage, and problems with it. Any help would be appreciated! 🤗💚🪴

hmm…usually adequate sunlight is all you need to keep the variegation coming, regardless of the plant. east or west facing — so it gets mostly bright indirect with a splash of morning or evening sun

there might be evidence out there that potassium is especially important for variegations, but I don’t think that a potassium-only supplement is better than an otherwise N-P-K balanced organic fertilizer

any silica supplement will help enhance the strength of the cell walls in general, and thus keep variegated parts healthy longer. however, this won’t increase the chances of your plant producing more white if that’s what you’re looking for. if it’s genetically variegated, more light is the only way to encourage more variegated leaves. chimeric variegation, like that of monstera deliciosa albo, plays by its own rules and can’t really be coached.

Plant father, how do you know so much; do you have a degree in plant biology? TX for such an impressive comment. I’m thinking of the white in four of my Tineke rubber plants and also a few others with that variagation. Regards, 🤗💚🪴

haha, thank you, i don’t have a degree but i have been learning about biology since i was born! and i like to do a lot of research. i would suggest looking up the individual species and ‘variegation’ to see what type it is, and if anyone online has posted any tips specific to your plants’ species.

Looks like this product is only for hydroponic plants, so I don’t think it’ll work for plants in soil.

the label says it’s for use in hydro, soil, and coco — but yeah I still don’t think you need this
