    You can’t tell if it needs repotting until you remove the pot. That root showing could be attracted to moisture under the pot and not a sign of overgrowth. Repot if you have more roots than soil or if the roots are blocking the drainage. Repotting too soon can lead to root rot from too much soil and water around the roots.

    Check the roots before you repot and make sure they are ready to repot in a bigger pot
