UPDATE: from my post earlier on my African violet. Thank you for the advice and I watched the YouTube video, it was very helpful. I did as the video showed and I found lots of babies and now they are all in their own little pots. I even did it to my other African violet. I Love Learning new planty things! Also what do I do to propagate the leafs, put them in a glass dish with plastic wrap over it? Use perlite or soil? All help appreciated.

That makes me so happy! 🧡 I’m no expert! But what’s worked for me with leaf propagation is African violet soil, a little dip in rooting hormone, and patience! 😆 Also once, about 5 years ago, one of my violets generated a seed pod! I tried to grow seedlings without luck, but since then I’ve occasionally tried to cross pollinate the plants to see if it will happen again 🫠

That sounds really cool, I have never thought about seed pods before!

They're looking great! I recently got a fancy african violet; senk's blue cascade. Once it gets big enough i might try propping and breeding it

Yeah, here he is. He's a bit young yet, and took some leaf losses from shipping, so he's still working on doing the cascade growth he was named for. The leaves turn upwards at the petiole and reveal a nice purple underside

Hey how long did it take?

It's filled in a bit but it's still not doing the full cascade it's supposed to do. I foubd out that it's a trailer type, so it needs pruning to develop multiple stems to get the look it's known for. I haven't propagated it yet since my other plants have kept me busy

Violets are so easy to root. I’ve even just cut a leaf off and stuck the bottom in soil and it rooted.
