New plant parent here and plant-tok has me overwhelmed lol. Since its spring what kind of fertilizer is everyone using? What are some plant tools you wish you bought sooner?

The photo shows the ones I use. I fertilize year round if the plant is still growing after I bring them in for winter. I’m in zone 9 on the Texas gulf coast.

Oh okay perfect, I’m in zone 8 so the same ones should pretty much work for me I guess. How much water should I be mixing with them? I was planning to get the miracle gro all purpose plant food. I noticed that it has a pretty high npk 24-8-16 so should I add more water and dilute it accordingly?

Follow label directions. Some people fertilize once a month. I fertilize twice a month and dilute the solution 50 percent each time to prevent over fertilizing. Each plant is different. I might reduce the fertilizer for some if it looks like I’m getting too dark leaves. The miracle Gro has a high nitrogen ratio. But, it works well for my plants. I’ve used it for years. My blooming plants like hoyas and petunias bloom well with it. Use the product that works best for your plants. It’s a trial and error sometimes. The timed release fertilizer works well. They last about 6 to 8 months on my plants. Many nurseries ship plant with fertilizer beads. Don’t over fertilize even when there is less chance of fertilizer burn using the beads because of their slow release drain. I would add an acidic fertilizer for roses, evergreens, etc., that need it , if I had those types of plants.

I bought the kit on the right with these small tools plus the green tools on top. I bought the long rubber tipped tweezer set separately. Not shown is the wire cutter used to cleanly cut plants for propagating or to remove dead branches on my smaller plants. The wire cutter replaced the useless mini scissors that came with the kit. I use the cutter often. The long tweezers helps to clear debris and dead leaves without knocking off delicate new leaves. I use the scoop a lot more than expected.

Interesting never would’ve thought those tools could be used that way. Thanks!

I use different fertilizers for different plants the all-purpose liquid I use is PURIVE that's what my tropical plant lady uses, and my other plant lady uses Miracle-Gro 20-20-20 and swears by it I thought that was something funky about not using miracle grow in your gardens like the worms won't even live in the soil so like I've been staying away from miracle grow plus I like it organic but am I wrong 😩🥴🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I was thinking of doing coffee grounds for some and boiling potatoes and banana peels and whatnot I think help also but I'm curious to see what everybody else uses as well

I don’t have the time or desire to make fertilizer from scratch. Plus, I wouldn’t know if my 200 plants are getting enough nutrients unless I get a chemistry degree. 😁 Plants are supposed to be a labor of love. I would lose that loving feeling if I’m working constantly on the maintenance.

Hi, all, is plant juice a good fertilizer? I was never a good fertilizer until I got on this app and that's what I started using. 😬
